Ashland University Hires New Director of Online Criminal Justice Program

Ashland University has hired Dr. Mark Rubin as the new director and professional instructor of the Online Criminal Justice program. He began in this position on March 1. 

“We are thrilled to have someone like Dr. Rubin join our team,” said Dr. Dawn Weber, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. “Dr. Rubin's blend of law enforcement and academic experience make him an ideal person to direct our adult online program in criminal justice.

”Rubin has nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience at the state and local levels and holds a Master Peace Officer license in the state of Texas. His areas of expertise and interest are in cybercrime, human trafficking, criminal investigations, homeland security and law enforcement administration. 

He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Houston, a master’s degree in education from Western Governors University, and a doctorate in criminal justice from Capella University. Rubin has been teaching traditional and adult students at the university level for five years in Florida and Texas.

“I am very excited to be here at Ashland University and I am looking forward to seeing growth in AU’s online program,” Rubin said. “Having earned two degrees in a non-traditional online environment, I am very much aware of the challenges working adults face as they juggle family, work and school.

”AU’s Online Criminal Justice Program began in 2013 and these courses are offered in an eight-week format. The program is designed to meet the needs of working adults in the areas of corrections, law enforcement, courts and justice.
