Mansfield Police: 57 Year Old Woman Dies Following Crash at North Lake Park

Police cordon tape

Tuesday evening (4/6/21) at approximately 6:41PM the Mansfield Division of Police responded to an injury crash in North Lake Park located at 270 Rae Avenue. The crash involved a 1985 Honda, trike motorcycle operated by 63-year-old James Bertoch II. During the investigation, it was learned that Mr. Bertoch lost control of the trike after he had turned his head to speak to his rear-seated passenger. The trike traveled off the roadway at which time it struck a pole, ejecting Mr. Bertoch and partially ejecting the 57-year-old female passenger, Robin Bertoch who was momentarily trapped under the overturned trike. Ms. Bertoch was briefly treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital where she later passed away.

There was no indication at the scene that alcohol and/or drugs were involved and speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash. No additional information is available at this time as the crash remains under investigation.

We are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the crash and were not interviewed, to please contact Mansfield Police at (419) 755-9724 and ask for Sergeant Toneli Webb or a shift supervisor
