Former Richland County JFS Employee Pleads Guilty To 3 Felony Counts

A former Richland County Job and Family Services employee has pled guilty to three felony counts for improperly securing benefits for her boyfriend and his child.

RichlandSource.com reports, 49 year old Rebecca Shafer pled guilty this week to theft in office, illegal use of food stamps and Medicaid fraud, which will also see her make restitution of nearly $48,000.

Shafer, who resigned from her position as a public assistance specialist in 2021, will be sentenced in May.
