So what makes THIS fantasy show different? Well, first of all, we don't get paid for our expertise. We're JJ & Tiny Tyler...and we're just two guys with radio backgrounds who needed to give our wives an excuse as to why we spend so much time on Fantasy Football. So, now in our 3rd season as a podcast and carried nationally on over a dozen radio stations including iHeartRadio Talk, we carry the madness over to you. We promise you moderately accurate fantasy advice (we're right more than we're wrong!), a mild level of entertainment and amusement, and at the very least a punching bag for all of your head shaking fantasy mistakes. Wanna ask a question? We happen to be EVERYWHERE. Hit us up on Facebook and Twitter using the links above and we'll help you finish better than last place (that's our way of underpromising and over-delivering). Thanks for listening!
So every week during the fantasy season, myself and Tyler will make bold, oft-incorrect predictions about each game that week. We present these to you now with full disclosure - they're probably not right. They're a stretch. Please do not make fantasy lineup decisions based off of these. You will be angry and you will yell at us. BUT - there's a somewhat limited chance that these predictions turn out to be true, in which case we'll spend a large portion of time on next week's podcast talking about how good we are at our jobs.
Okay, so now that I've lowered your expectations, we'll hit you with some bold predictions for Week 1 in the NFL.
-- Ravens @ Broncos: Joe Flacco will score more fantasy points than Peyton Manning. The thought? Banged up Broncos D...no Von Miller...Flacco should have plenty of time to go deep to Torrey Smith.
-- Bengals @ Bears: Look for double coverage on Brandon Marshall all day. Alshon Jeffery will finish this game within 3 points of Brandon Marshall
-- Falcons @ Saints: Matt Ryan will end up with more fantasy points from this game than Drew Brees. Pretty simple. The Saints D sucks.
-- Titans @ Steelers: CJ2K returns. Chris Johnson will post 100+ yards rushing AND get in the end zone, rewarding owners who haven't completely bailed on the CJ Bus.
-- Raiders @ Colts: Andrew Luck will go OFF here against a bad Raiders D, scoring 25+ fantasy points in standard scoring.
-- Chiefs @ Jaguars: Not really all that bold here, but just because we like to make fun of him...Blaine Gabbert will throw more INTs than Maurice Jones-Drew will score TDs. There is no fantasy takeaway from this...it's just your daily reminder that Blaine Gabbert is an awful quarterback.
-- Cardinals @ Rams: Carson Palmer is going to throw a lot in this game. So much so that he's due for 18 or more fantasy points. There, I said it.
-- Eagles @ Redskins: Did you draft Michael Vick for the upside? The upside may not be greater than it is for this game. A paltry Redskins D, a game that presents a little bit of a shootout opportunity, and a proving ground game for Chip Kelly's offense? Take Vick for 3 total TDs - 2 through the air and one with his feet.
-- Patriots @ Bills: Zach Sudfeld finishes the week as a Top 6 fantasy tight end. No Gronk. Unproven commodities on the ends. Brady loves tight ends. You drafted Sudfeld to play him for 4 weeks. This is one of them.
-- Dolphins @ Browns: I like the matchup for Lamar Miller, but not for the Dolphins passing game. Joe Haden will be blanketing Mike Wallace, and I don't have a ton of faith in Ryan Tannehill to be overly competent. Browns Defense ends the week as a Top 5 Fantasy D.
-- Bucs @ Jets: Geno Smith ends the day as a Top 15 fantasy QB. This is the prediction I feel LEAST good about. I don't think Geno is ready to be a starting quarterback. I don't think he's particularly good. I also think he will accidentally end up with a good game. The Bucs struggled against the pass last year. Geno does have the ability to run. I think he can be okay. Not good, but okay.
-- Vikings @ Lions: Reggie Bush catches more passes than Calvin Johnson. Not more fantasy points. But more receptions. If we learned one thing about Detroit in the preseason, it's that the Lions are not gonna be able to have a traditional running game. So, what will they do to open up the deep game? Check down to Bush. A lot.
-- Seahawks @ Panthers: Marshawn Lynch scores 20+ fantasy points. I have him ranked as the #1 RB this week. The Panthers gave up 151 total yards per game to runningbacks last year. Get out your Skittles.
-- Packers @ 49ers: Jermichael Finley scores more fantasy points than Vernon Davis. This very much goes along with my hatred for Jordy Nelson this week. Last year when these two teams played, Finley let the Packers with 11 targets. He just didn't catch all of them. I'm sort of buying this renewed faith in his TE from Aaron Rodgers, and I think Finley will see lots of short passes and he has the ability to break one.
-- Giants @ Cowboys: Eli Manning throws 3 touchdowns. What, not bold enough for you? Okay, well I'll say that one is going to Victor Cruz, one is going to Nicks, and one is going to David Wilson. Probably another one is going to a Cowboys defender, but that's beside the point.
-- Texans @ Chargers: DeAndre Hopkins finishes as a Top 35 fantasy wide receiver this week. I just have a feeling that with Foster a little banged up, the Texans may have to throw more than normal in this game, and I think that there will be enough balls to make 2 receivers somewhat fantasy relevant against a bad Chargers D. Hopkins isn't startable, but don't be surprised if he ends up with a decent day.
