REVIEW: Friends With Kids

Think Bridesmaids 4 years later, with less toilet humor and more sophistication

Created by and starring Jessica Westfeldt of the indie fave Kissing Jessica Stein, this movie begs to answer the question: how can you keep romance alive after the kids? The very talented cast includes Westfeldt's longtime boyfriend Jon Hamm (though not as her love interest), an under-used Kristin Wigg in her most poignant role yet (yes - she can do drama as well as comedy), Maya Rudolph and Adam Scott.

Set in New York, a pair of platonic longtime friends are appalled that their previously happily married friends seem so miserable after having kids. Both want a child themselves but lack the loves of their life, they decide to have one together , as friends, while romancing others.

Sure - you know from the outset where this one ends but it still feels satisfying, whether you’re on that first date or 3rd child.
