I first took a seat behind a WMAN microphone in 1982. For seven years, I worked the evening shift. That included engineering Cleveland Indians games, and actually DJ'ing real records for several years. We even had an evening Marketplace Program for several years that I hosted. Since 1990 I hosted the daily talk show "AM MANSFIELD", for over 17 years, The Rusty Cates Show,in the afternoon for about a year. And now, since June 14, 2010, I am getting up early to help you start your day with "Rusty Cates and The WMAN Morning News"
When not at the radio station, I am passionate about singing. I am a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and sing with TheGreater Columbus Chapter "The Alliance" Chorus. In Mansfield, I sing with a Do Wop Quartet, known as "The Moonlighters" I am a regular member of Trinity United Methodist Church. I am a busy guy, but not to busy to follow the Tribe, Buckeyes, Browns and Cavs. Mansfield is my home, and I enjoy being a part of our Mansfield Radio Station - WMAN.
